The most misunderstood holiday, Cinco de Mayo

A lot of people have the misconception that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico’s Independence Day. No! It is not, because that is celebrated on September 16th in Mexico. This war was the first war of greed. It was called “The battle of Pueblo” The Cinco de Mayo holiday came about when the president of Mexico in 1861, Benito Juarez couldn’t pay his debts to foreign countries. Now at that time America was fighting in the civil war, so Mexico had to fight with no help! Napoleon 111 was the ruler of France during this time. He decided he would invade Mexico. By the way, back then Mexico ceded nearly all The territory including New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, California , Texas, and Western Colorado. Later bought for $15 million bucks. Even though the French had a great military, the Mexicans were victorious and won this battle in less than 4 hours ! Despite the odds against them, they became badass warriors, and that is why we celebrate the great Cinco de Mayo, so raise your glass of beer or Margarita and be happy on Cinco de Mayo!!!!!
