Sedona was first found by the first Europeans, from a Spanish expedition in search of gold.It was in 1583, when the first settlers came, but it was very first occupied by the ancient Sinagua about 10,000 years ago. The Sinagua people had pets, such as dogs, parrots, and kept wild turkeys as a food source.However, They mysteriously disappeared or just simply left. To this day, it remains a big mystery!Other tribes were the Hopi, Yavapai, Apache. In Sedona, there are literally hundreds of ruins in Sedona. As you read farther in, I will give you some of the historic places and interesting Spots to go see!

The creation;

Sedona was once at the bottom of the sea 330 million years ago. And the shells of sea creatures formed a red wall limestone due to its color. The result of iron oxide deposited in the rocks by water in later eras.

Here are Some of the names of the first pioneer settlers who came to Oak creek in 1880, were Jesse “Bear”Howard, also known as Charles Smith Howard. Jack Robinson, John L.V. Thomas, William Dyer, James Schuerman, Adolf Willard, John H. Lee.Theodore Carlton Schnebley also known as T.C. Schnebley, the first postmaster. Sedona was named after T.C.’s wife, Sedona Arabella Miller.

Most of these pioneers were farmers and cattle ranchers, while many were sick with Malaria .Life was very difficult. A journal Was written by Sedona Schnebley explains the hardships they endured and even the death of her daughter in a tragic accident.

Sedona and T.C worked very hard, As Sedona had to wash the clothes in Oak creek, and she also had to run the hotel. T.C. Sold the fruits that grew in the Oak creek Orchard that they grew. As well as being the postmaster!The Oak creek orchard was a big success and was sold to to Jerome, Prescott, Flaggstaff, And was so popular that people in Phoenix drove to Sedona just to get it! This ended though from 70-80’s.

Today, people come due to it’s red rock beauty, for health, mental and spiritual reasons as well as great off-roading and to find pre-historic petroglyphs!

The vortex;

So, what exactly is a vortex and where can you find them in Sedona? A Vortex is a mass of whirling of fluid of water or air, especially a whirlpool or air that sucks everything near it, towards its center. A vortex tube creates cold air and hot air by forcing compressed air through a generation chamber, in which the air spins at a rate of speed (1,000,000 rpm) into a vortex.

The Cathedral chapel, Airport Mesa, Boynton and many people say there are more. Here are some historic places and interesting spots to check out.
